Dredging Project 50 Percent Complete
GE’s crews have completed three seasons of dredging (2009, 2011 and 2012) and the fourth season of dredging is now underway. All told, more than 1.3 million cubic yards of material have been removed, transported to a facility in Fort Edward for processing, and shipped by rail to long-term disposal facilities. Based on EPA’s timetable, dredging will likely continue for three to five more years.
