Enjoying the River: Open for Recreation
All recreational activities continue in the Hudson River during the dredging project, including boating and fishing.
The New York State Department of Health has issued an advisory regarding swimming in the immediate vicinity of dredging equipment. You can view that advisory here.
Boaters traveling in areas where the work is being performed should take care to avoid work areas, which will be marked by buoys. Boaters traveling through work areas are asked to contact the project’s vessel traffic center on VHF Channel 18A for information, as work areas change daily. More information about work areas is provided here.
You can view the New York State Canal Corporation’s Notice to Mariners at http://www.nyscanals.gov/news/notices/.
The Hudson’s catch-and-release fishery remains open during dredging. The New York State Department of Health’s guidelines for fish consumption can be viewed here.
